The role of materials for offshore wind energy

Tulipano Room, pav. B6

Offshore wind represents a promising solution for achieving decarbonization in Italy, as it ensures greater energy efficiency and reduced environmental and social impacts compared to onshore wind.
To maximize the benefits derived from the installation of offshore wind farms, careful development of innovative and intelligent materials is essential for all components of the wind turbine. The particularly severe environmental conditions also require the development and integration of in-situ monitoring methodologies, in order to reduce system maintenance costs and increase reliability.
