Our commitment

A low-impact exhibition centre.

The Rimini Expo Centre was designed and is managed with a focus on low environmental impact. It was awarded the prestigious international Elca “Building and Green” prize in Nuremberg, and IEG holds the following certifications: ISO 14001 (Environment), ISO 45001 (Occupational Health and Safety), and ISO 20121 (Sustainable Event Management Systems).

The indoor and outdoor green areas at the Rimini Expo Centre cover 160,000 square metres, featuring over 1,500 plants and 30,000 square metres of grass lawns. The irrigation systems exclusively use surface groundwater.

A special light.

In the pavilions of the Rimini Expo Centre, large windows and ceiling skylights allow for predominantly natural lighting. Across the venue, 850 LED projectors have been installed, resulting in a 66% reduction in energy consumption and an annual energy saving of 720,000 kWh, which translates into a reduction of 120 tonnes of CO₂ emissions per year.

Water is conserved.

The large fountains at the Rimini Expo Centre all operate on a water recirculation system. During scheduled drainings, the water is treated and reused for irrigating green areas. In the venue's restrooms, water jets are pressure-controlled, contributing to a total saving of 23 million litres of water per year.

Photovoltaics take the lead.

Since 2022, IEG has equipped its exhibition and conference venues in Rimini and Vicenza with photovoltaic systems integrated into the buildings’ roofs, with a total installed capacity of 7,525 kWp. These systems generate 8.5 million kWh of clean electricity annually, enough to make all its Italian sites energy self-sufficient.

This capacity is equivalent to the energy needs of 2,982 households and contributes to saving 4.5 million tonnes of CO₂ emissions into the environment.

Sustainable set-ups.

IEG, through its set-up company Prostand, is pursuing a low environmental impact path by ensuring a sustainable supply chain. This includes the Zero Waste approach, a reduction in CO₂ emissions thanks to modular and foldable furniture that allows for a 70% reduction in volume, and lower emissions due to reduced road transport.

Sustainable mobility.

The Rimini Expo Centre features an on-site train station on the Milan-Bari line, which is operational during major events. 20% of visitors use the train, helping to reduce traffic and pollution. Additionally, the station’s architecture is designed to have minimal environmental impact.

ELECTRIC VEHICLE CHARGING STATIONS

At the Rimini and Vicenza venues, 20 electric charging stations have been installed, providing a total of 40 outlets that are continuously connected to the venues’ energy network.

Diversity and inclusion.

IEG is the first Italian exhibition company to obtain the Gender Equality Certification UNI/PdR 125:2022, recognizing the full alignment of its corporate policies with principles of workplace equity and inclusion for all employees within the organization.

Partnering with RE-CIG.

In 2023, IEG launched a partnership with RE-CIG®, the first company to collect and transform cigarette butts into plastic material (cellulose acetate), which can be used to produce new items. That same year, IEG received a certificate of recognition for having recycled instead of disposing a total of 23 kg of cigarette butts collected from January to August.
