Energy and Innovation: MASE's International Cooperation for Energy Transition

Ravezzi 2 South Hall

As part of the international cooperation activities of the Ministry of Environment and Energy Security (MASE), to support decarbonization and energy transition, the following priority initiatives have been launched, designed to generate concrete impact in partner countries and operational opportunities for the Italian system:
• Technological innovation on energy topics with Mission Innovation and the Italian contribution both to its national dimension (on renewable sources, flexibility, storage, data/digitalization, hydrogen) and to the international dimension in collaboration with UNDP - Rome Center, through the Energy4Growth Initiative, and with the scientific support of RSE, in synergy with the Mattei Plan and the Global Gateway, on priority countries in Africa, Brazil and the Mediterranean.
• Digitalization of energy systems and flexibility with the 3DEN initiative, implemented in collaboration with UNEP, which supports technological, regulatory and policy innovations to accelerate digital transformation, consumption efficiency and integration of renewables in partner countries. Phase II involved Brazil and seven African countries (18 pilot project proposals have been selected between phase I and phase II to date, which saw wide Italian participation among companies, research centers, universities, engineering firms)
• Sustainable cooling with EPIC Deploy (Cool Coalition/UNEP), with the aim of transforming the commitments of the Global Cooling Pledge into concrete actions, promoting scalable and financeable solutions with particular attention to the tertiary and industrial sectors, where the need for cooling is more urgent.

The event aims to explore opportunities for the Italian private sector and the research world, illustrating the available tools, the methods of access to calls for proposals, selection criteria and possible forms of public-private collaboration within MASE's international cooperation programs.
