Energy efficiency of ecclesiastical heritage: synergies between ESCos, institutions and communities

Abete Room, pav. A7

The main challenges concern the coordination among multiple actors, compliance with specific regulations for historical and artistic assets, and access to financial resources and state and European incentives.
The event aims to promote a technical and operational discussion among experts, public and private entities, and representatives of the Italian Episcopal Conference (CEI), to present regulatory tools and financial incentives at the national level, capable of effectively supporting the energy transition in religious buildings and related structures. In particular, the strategic role of ESCos in the management and energy regeneration of the vast ecclesiastical real estate heritage — which includes churches, convents, oratories, and other historical religious buildings — will be highlighted, ensuring sustainable, technically advanced efficiency interventions compatible with the architectural and cultural specificities of these assets.
The conference will showcase case studies and best practices of intervention, analyzing the impact in terms of consumption reduction and comfort improvement, with a view to widespread energy regeneration that takes into account the architectural and cultural specificities of the ecclesiastical heritage.
